FURRY IGUANA

man my posts are a few and far between but anyways, here's a painting i did based off a creature description i heard. the topic was furry reptiles. i decided to do an iguana with a little lion mane. i really tried to play/ experiment with more PS texturing and color modes. i have been learning more about patterns as well. let me know what you think. thanks!

also here is the progress steps i took. pretty straight forward i say.

It's cool how you hit the sketches with s dimensional form in mind, and then you hit the tonal stuff with shape in mind. (Yeah, I know that sounds like I said the same thing twice; but it's not, trust me.) The nice little edgy touches to the shading/tone really add a whole new dimension of feel to the character - alot of nice styling choices that I think most artists would fall back on the linework to try to achieve. Kind of reminds me of the stuff you'd see French or Dutch taggers do, whether its characters or fonts.
